JULIAN ADAIR
Director

​

Julian began her formal dance training in 1973 and earned a B.F.A in dance from Creighton University in 1987. Since that time, she has performed and choreographed professionally throughout the Midwest. Her teaching history since 1985 includes many of the major dance programs in the Omaha area, including the Jewish Community Center and Dana College. Julian directed the Mercy High School dance program, starting in its first year in 1991 through 1996.

Julian founded Tanzlust, Inc. and Dance Conspiracy, Inc., both of which provided local choreographers and performers with venues for modern dance in Omaha. Serving on many boards and committees, her involvement also includes the Omaha Modern Dance Collective and the Theater Arts Guild. She has performed and choreographed for many area theaters with over 140 productions to date. She has been a two-time recipient of the Theater Arts Guild Outstanding Achievement in Choreography award and is the 2017 Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards Outstanding Choreographer Award.

Julian wrote, produced, and directed “Nutcracker Delights,” an annual production for Ever After Productions, in cooperation with Adair Dance Academy. In 2009, the production was nominated for two Theatre Arts Guild Awards. She has published Advice to a Dancer, a poetry and dance photography book. Her latest children’s book titled Nutcracker Delights, will be released in the fall of 2017.

In 1993, Julian successfully opened the Adair Dance Academy. She is happily married to Steve Adair, Vice President of ADA, Inc., and they have two daughters, Camille and Colette, both avid young dance enthusiasts.

FACULTY

CAMILLE ADAIR

​

Camille has been studying dance all of her life, with training in Ballet, Modern, Musical Theater, Tap, Contemporary, Pedagogy and Composition at Adair Dance Academy, and in Paul Taylor, Missouri Contemporary Ballet and Nebraska Dance Programs. She has served as assistant choreographer at Beveridge Magnet School, Westview High School and the UNO Theater Department. Her performance credits included Bellevue Little Theater, Omaha Dance Project, Nebraska in Motion, Ever After Productions Nutcracker Delights, The Omaha Community Playhouse and two national tours of A Christmas Carol with the Nebraska Theater Caravan. She has degrees from UNO in Political Science and Communications and is an Event Producer for Plannit Inc, a local and national event company.

HARUNA ASANUMA

​

Haruna first started dancing at the Omaha Academy of Ballet in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2010, she studied abroad in London to study at Laban Conservatoire of Contemporary Dance, where she trained in Release, Limon, and Cunningham techniques and classical ballet.  She later went on to graduate with her BA (Hons) Degree in Contemporary Dance from the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance.

 

Haruna has performed with Atelier Teatro Danza in Italy and toured Scotland with the SSCD graduate company, while in college.  After graduation, she has performed in Omaha with Maya Taylor Dance Company, TBD Dance Collective, Moving Company, as well as the roles of Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen with Ever After Productions!  She later moved to Minneapolis and danced with Metropolitan Ballet, Minneapolis Ballet Dancers and Yuki Tokuda Ballet, where she danced both contemporary and classical works.  Some of her favorite roles include Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker, Cygnets in Swan Lake and Friends in Romeo and Juliet.  She has taught at several studios all over the Twin Cities and is excited to be moving back to her hometown and to meet her new students in Omaha!

LAURA SAMBOL

 

Laura Sambol, former Radio City Rockette from Omaha, joins us for our first “Rockettes 101” summer program. A fun class featuring choreography from the iconic “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” and routines performed by the Rockettes in New York City and Las Vegas.  Laura will also share personal stories, pictures, videos, and give dancers a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to audition for and dance with one of the most famous dance troupes in the world.  Along with dancing with the Rockettes, Laura’s credits include “The European Tour of 42nd Street,” “Pleasure Island Explosion” and “Kids of the Kingdom” at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida, “Miracle on 34th Street Premiere,” at Radio City Music Hall, and “Salle des Etoiles” in Monte-Carlo. Laura is a graduate of Oklahoma City University’s world renowned Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment, and was a scholarship recipient at the premiere dance studio “Steps on Broadway” in New York City.
 

 

STEPHANIE TEPOX

​

Raised in Newtown, Pa. She began her ballet training at the age of four. She went on to study at the School of the Pennsylvania Ballet, where she would remain for the next ten years, training and performing with the company. In the fall of 1992 she joined Tulsa Ballet Theatre, and in the fall of 1994 moved on to join Ballet Omaha. She began her teaching career in the fall of 2001 in Pa. In the summer of 2012, she relocated back to Omaha, and is currently teaching at the Adair Dance Academy.
