Julian began her formal dance training in 1973 and earned a B.F.A in dance from Creighton University in 1987. Since that time, she has performed and choreographed professionally throughout the Midwest. Her teaching history since 1985 includes many of the major dance programs in the Omaha area, including the Jewish Community Center and Dana College. Julian directed the Mercy High School dance program, starting in its first year in 1991 through 1996.
Julian founded Tanzlust, Inc. and Dance Conspiracy, Inc., both of which provided local choreographers and performers with venues for modern dance in Omaha. Serving on many boards and committees, her involvement also includes the Omaha Modern Dance Collective and the Theater Arts Guild. She has performed and choreographed for many area theaters with over 140 productions to date. She has been a two-time recipient of the Theater Arts Guild Outstanding Achievement in Choreography award and is the 2017 Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards Outstanding Choreographer Award.
Julian wrote, produced, and directed “Nutcracker Delights,” an annual production for Ever After Productions, in cooperation with Adair Dance Academy. In 2009, the production was nominated for two Theatre Arts Guild Awards. She has published Advice to a Dancer, a poetry and dance photography book. Her latest children’s book titled Nutcracker Delights, will be released in the fall of 2017.
In 1993, Julian successfully opened the Adair Dance Academy. She is happily married to Steve Adair, Vice President of ADA, Inc., and they have two daughters, Camille and Colette, both avid young dance enthusiasts.
From Houston, Texas, Julie grew up dancing under her mom, Bobbi Leahy, and began teaching at the family studio in her early teens. Among her training experiences included Houston Dance Center, Discovery Dance with Pam Stockman, summer intensives at the Burchfield Ballet, and numerous classes and conventions in the Houston area. As a high school senior, she garnered the captain position on the dance team and was the recipient of several awards. While earning a degree in Hospitality Management at the Hilton College at the University of Houston, Julie directed the Friendswood Fillies Jr. Dance team and competed around Texas.
The last quarter century she has devoted her time to her better half (Bart) and their 12 children. Christina and Rebecca both danced at Ballet Memphis, and Ana, Isabella and Kathleen are currently dancing at Adair’s. Julie met Julian 20 years ago and choreographed for her while pregnant with #4 (Scott), who returned at 16 and danced the part of the Cavalier in the Nutcracker. With a very grateful heart, Julie is thrilled to be back in Omaha and the opportunity to teach under Julian.
Teresa began her dance training at age 3 and has trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, musical theatre, and choreography at Cherrie Anderson’s, Mary Lorraine’s, Omaha Academy of Ballet, and Motion 41. She has also studied with the Kansas City Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Kaatsbaan International Dance Center in New York.
She has performed with Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker, Omaha Dance Project, Project Diva, Ballet Nebraska II, Motion 41’s Repertory Ensemble, as well as competitive dancing.
She has danced two seasons with Ballet Nebraska (2011-2013), has taught all around Omaha including Fusion Dance Studio, the Jewish Community Center, and Broadway at the Rose, She currently teaches at the Rose and Adair Dance Academy, while continuing her own training at every opportunity.
Raised in Newtown, Pa. She began her ballet training at the age of four. She went on to study at the School of the Pennsylvania Ballet, where she would remain for the next ten years, training and performing with the company. In the fall of 1992 she joined Tulsa Ballet Theatre, and in the fall of 1994 moved on to join Ballet Omaha. She began her teaching career in the fall of 2001 in Pa. In the summer of 2012, she relocated back to Omaha, and is currently teaching at the Adair Dance Academy.
ARTISTIC STAFF THROUGH THE YEARS
Becky began her dance training at the age of three with instructor Jeanne Roddy. She received extensive jazz, modern, and ballet training from the studios of Donnie Meyer Holmes, On Broadway, and Adair Dance Academy. She also studied dance while attending Mercy High School. Becky received her secondary education degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and in addition to teaching dance, she also has been teaching English and Literature for the past eight years . After taking a few years off to be a full time mom, Becky is back at ADA. She enjoys staying at home with her daughter, Keira, and spending time with her husband, Will.
Ellie began her dance career at the age of three with instructor Deanna Beal of On Broadway Dance Studio. She received her training in jazz, tap, ballet, modern, musical theatre, and pointe from an array of studios and instructors including, On Broadway Dance Studio, Patrick Roddy, Dance Unlimited, and Adair Dance Academy. Ellie attended Mercy High School where she found herself enrolling in eight semesters of dance classes and performing in numerous outside performances from her involvement in ‘Dance Club’. After Mercy, Ellie attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. While at Northwest, Ellie was involved in the Northwest Dance Company and taught dance at Maryville Dance Academy where she really started to find her love for teaching dance. Ellie lead her students to many competition awards and even gained a couple of choreography awards for herself. Ellie graduated from NWMSU in December of 2009 with a degree in Organizational Communication.
Rachel began her dance training at the age of three at Adair Dance Academy and has been happily with the studio ever since. Additionally, she performed with Ballet Nebraska’s student company BNII for two seasons. She has participated in Advanced intensives at both Stephens College and Storling Dance Theater. She now attends Creighton University seeking a Theater major and a Dance minor.
